Use this animal tracks activity to match the animal to its tracks and get each animal from one side of the animal tracks worksheet to the other!

Here’s the story: A fox, squirrel and giraffe went on a leisurely forest stroll. They felt the sunshine on their cheeks, looked up at the beautiful blue sky, and felt the green grass beneath their feet. But when they reached the other end of the forest they realized they were so distracted they didn’t know how they got there!

In this animal tracks lessons, please help the animals find their way back by looking at the footprints and matching them to the correct animal. Once you’ve identified which animal goes with which set of footprints, use your finger to trace the animal tracks back to a number — that’s how they’ll reach the other side! Tell a grown up what animal goes with what number. This line you’ve traced is called a path. Next time you go out for a walk, the course or direction you walk will be your path. Pretty cool!

This animal tracks activity for preschool was inspired by the book Life-Sized Animal Tracks by John Townsend. If you haven’t read the book, check out my review on this animal tracks children’s book. I think you’re going to LOVE it!
