Here is a free consent coloring page to help kids better understand what consent means and why it’s important.

It can be hard to explain big concepts to small children. In this consent coloring sheet, one child asks another: “Can I hold your hand?” This is a simple and benign way to either support a conversation about consent or begin one.

In the book, Let’s Talk About Boundaries, Consent and Respect, written by Jayneen Sanders and illustrated by Sarah Jennings, consent is explained as asking for/and giving permission. It’s an agreement, a deal — and that’s a concept that little kids know all about.

We colored this consent worksheet at home. We role played asking if it was OK to hold each other’s hands; sometimes we said yes and sometimes we said no. Sometimes our body language showed agreement, indifference, and refusal but each time we followed the example through to the end. It was a fun, interactive, coloring and play experience.

We hope you enjoy this consent coloring page and find it as useful as we did!
