This gluten-free snack for kids is so very delicious and the best part — kids can largely make this by themselves (after an adult slices an apple). It looks like a doughnut but it’s actually apple slices… this gluten-free snack for kdis will not last long and is sure to be a hit! We came up with the celiac-friendly snack after reading I’m a Gluten-Sniffing Service Dog, written by Michael Baby and illustrated by Ela Smietanka. We learned a lot about celiac disease from the book!
Above you’ll find illustrated instructions for your child to lead this gluten free snack for kids ‘activity.’ Here’s a cheat sheet on the four steps illustrated above for the adults:
- Collect: 1 apple, 4 oz of cream cheese, 1/4 up of melted chocolate, sprinkles
- Ask a grown up to slice an apple and punch out the core
- Add the cream cheese to the melted chocolate
- Spread the mixture onto each apple slice and top with sprinkles; repeat
