play with playdough

This printable is all about play with playdough!

While you can use these free printable playdoh mats with any kind of play dough, we originally created the mats to go with the book I’m a Gluten-Sniffing Service Dog, written by Michael Baby and illustrated by Ela Smietanka, with the idea that you’d use them with this gluten-free playdough recipe.

After reading this book, we did more research and found out that celiac disease, which is an intolerance of gluten, is very common among children. When we interviewed a gluten-free expert, we learned how gluten is present in many products, not just food. Play doh is one of the more popular children’s products that contain gluten… so we set out to find an easy gluten-free playdough recipe you could make using ingredients you probably already have in your pantry.

Set your timer! This easy gluten-free play doh recipe is ready to play with in less than 20-minutes. So, print these paper mats, color them in and cut them. If you happen to have laminating sheets, then laminate these! If you don’t have laminating sheets, put these inside a plastic Ziploc-type bag. This way you can use the mats as actual mats and reuse time and again without worrying you’ll rip the paper. That said. please don’t worry about ripping the paper… the mats are free and you may print as many as you’d like.

We hope you play with playdough and have a fun, gluten-free, experience!
