Make frog out of toilet paper roll — or a toad! CROAK! Follow these easy steps in the video to create your very own toad, like the one you read about in Little Blue Truck!
You’ll need:
-
1 toilet paper roll
-
1 sheet of green construction paper (or white paper you color green)
-
Small bits of pink, black and white paper (or paper you color)
-
1 toothpick (or an object to curl paper with; and your adult)
-
Scissors (and your adult)
-
Glue (and your adult)
-
Stapler (and your adult)
-
Ruler
-
Black pen or marker
INSTRUCTIONS:
-
Cut the green construction paper long enough to cover the empty toilet paper roll and secure with glue.
-
Use left over green paper to cut two strips, each approximately 8” long and 1/2” wide for the toad’s legs.
-
Take one strip and fold it nearly in half, leaving about an inch left over like a tab. Secure the longer portion to the side of the toilet paper roll as one of the toad’s legs. Repeat on the other side.
-
Use some of the left over green paper and draw feet for your toad, then cut them out and glue each foot to the top of the tab that is sticking out from the sides of the toilet paper roll.
-
Cut a thin strip of pink paper, about an inch long and 1/4” wide to serve as the toad’s tongue. Set aside.
-
Use white construction paper to make two circles for the eyes. Cut two smaller circles out of black paper for the eyeballs. Glue the black paper inside the white paper. Now glue both eyes onto the toilet paper roll.
-
Grab your ‘tongue’ and use the toothpick to curl the pink paper around. Place a sliver of glue along the straight edge of the pink paper and glue onto the toilet paper roll as the tongue. The curled part of the tongue should be facing away from the toilet paper roll.
-
Draw a smile on your toad by using where you placed the tongue as a guide for its placement.
