A little mouse plucks a flower from a wall and a brick comes loose — opening a glimpse on the beauty that lies on the other side. He decides to take down the wall brick by brick. Along the way other animals help him, making the wall come down faster. Somehow the animals end up on two separate sides. So they decided to use the same bricks that once divided them, to make a bridge and come together. Brick by Brick, written and illustrated by Giuliano Ferri has an important message, delivered in a way that’s fun and engaging.
I really like this book and I like telling the story. There aren’t any words. Not a single one! I get to tell the story how I see it. Mom and dad love listening to me tell it. At first they had to say things like: What’s happening now? what do you see? Who is helping? Things like that. Now they just listen and I tell them about the wall and the friends and the wheelbarrow, and most of all, I like to point out: my blue sky.
Mom thinks this is a book adults should be made to read and re-read. She says it’s a valuable message, especially for the way the world is today.
