My Brown Bear book review has a twist now that it would’ve have had a few months ago. I love this book and I always have but now I’ve fallen in love with it all over again because I can read it all on my own!
Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? is written by Bill Martin Jr. and illustrated by the late Eric Carle. It’s a staple on children’s bookshelves. Mom and dad read this book to me a gazillion times. And now I’m reading it!
Mom was looking for a short book that I could try to read since I’ve been working on ny sight words at school. She thought the rhythm and predictability of this book would be good for me to use as practice. Boy was she right! I felt so successful reading this book. It really is a great book for building confidence.
The book has a great predictable narrative (mom says) and I like that the writing hints at what’s coming next.
The bold colors really keep my attention. One after another there’s another brightly colored animal. A bird, a duck, and of course – a bear, among many others. This book is a win. It’s great when your parents are reading to you and it’s great when you’re reading it to them!
