Poor LouAnn! She’s a busy bear and all she wants is to sit down and eat one of her homemade doughnuts before she has to hibernate for winter but her doorbell keeps ringing, that’s the storyline in Dozens of Doughnuts written by Carrie Finison and Illustrated by Brianne Farley. This book is so much fun to read. The whole time I just wanted LouAnn to GET A DOUGHNUT! But ding-dong another forest friend who smelled LousAnn’s delicious treats is at the door.

I love the illustrations in the book and the rhyme. While Mom wished I would have had the chance to hear the name LouAnn a few times before it became the missing part of the rhyme, she also loved the story. She told me in real life, people get caught up thinking about what they want, like LouAnn’s forest friends did thinking about doughnuts, and sometimes miss something else that’s happening too, like how LouAnn hadn’t yet had a moment to eat one of her own doughnuts. That made sense to me.

We both thought the ending of the book was super sweet. We were very happy for LouAnn. We both very much liked the inside covers of the book. The front cover has 24 yummy doughnuts and the back cover has mainly crumbs.
