Oh, Cat… he’s at it again. In Here Comes Santa Cat, author Deborah Underwood and illustrator, Claudia Rueda, bring back Cat in all of his naughty splendor.

I’m a big Cat fan! This book came out after Here Comes Easter Cat where Cat took on a bunny. And now, that Cat, he’s up to his usual antics. This time, Cat has a hunch he’s not on Santa’s nice list and is getting nervous he won’t get any gifts. So, he dresses like Santa to give himself a present (rolling my eyes).

Just like in the other Cat books, Cat doesn’t talk; instead he holds up signs. When the narrator suggests he try to improve his niceness score he tries caroling, giving fish to children, and more but it doesn’t really work. Then he begrudgingly shares some food with a kitten and gets a reward — a present from the real Santa so he can help deliver gifts in time for the holidays.

Silly Cat. Every page is so funny. When Dad reads this at bedtime I ask him to hold the pages up high so I can see for myself all of Cat’s signs and expressions. He’s always up to something. Like the other Cat books, it’s pretty long but keeps me interested. It interests my parents too — sometimes I catch them flipping the pages and laughing, even if they aren’t reading the words out loud.

I think you will really like Cat and Here Comes Santa Cat. The only thing I don’t like is that this is the last book in the series for me, at least for now, as I’ve read all the others. If you haven’t read them, you’re in for a real treat. Make sure to also check out: Here Comes the Easter Cat, Here Comes Valentine Cat, Here Comes the Tooth Fairy Cat and Here Comes Teacher Cat.
