This video is all about how to make firework rings using just a pipe cleaner!

This easy Fourth of July craft for kids will walk your though how to make a ring with basically just a colored pipe cleaner. It’s a fast 5-minute craft too. So, grab a few pipe cleaners and prepare to make very festive holiday jewelry for kids!

This easy fireworks craft for preschoolers was inspired by the book The Night Before the Fourth of July, written by Natasha Wing and illustrated by Amy Wummer. Have you read the book? It’s so great! Check out my review here.

To make a ring that looks like fireworks, you’ll need:

  • Several pipe cleaners (3 pipe cleaners are needed for each ring)
  • Scissors (and your adult)

INSTRUCTIONS FOR HOW TO MAKE YOUR RING:

  1. Put three pipe cleaners side by side, like in a group, in your hand; then gather in a loop (see 0:48 mark in video).
  2. Cut at the bend in the loop (so your 3 pipe cleaners become 6 same-sized pipe cleaners (see 0:53 mark in video)
Set one aside, then line up the other five pipe cleaners and twist (see 1:15 mark in video)
  3. Wrap the grouping around the finger and twist (see 1:26 mark in video)
  4. Remove your finger slowly to keep the shape in tact then wrap the single pipe cleaner you set aside before around the grouping (see 1:38 mark in video)
  5. Now place the ring back on your finger and turn the pipe cleaners around so you can bend and position the “fireworks” to your liking (see 1:52 mark in video)
  6. That’s it! Repeat to make more rings.
