This Oceans and Marine Life book review is for any kid who loves the sea!
This book, written by Stéphanie Babin is part of the DO YOU KNOW? series, and is like a board book but for more grown up kids. If it looks familiar, it could be because not too long ago I reviewed DO YOU KNOW? Dinosaurs and the Prehistoric World. I loved that book and I love this book! In fact, I carry this book around my house — it’s always with me at lunch time and when not in use, I tend to leave it on the big armchair; this way when mom or dad sit down, I ask them to read me a page. Sneaky, huh? This Oceans and Marine Life book review might be a teeny bit similar to my other review — but it’s mainly because the books have a very similar style.
This oceans book for kids is well organized and has many interesting thing to point to and ask about. Much like the other DO YOU KNOW book, it has an index, quizzes, thick pages and rounded corners. I like how many different things there are to quickly learn about our oceans and the many sea creatures that live in it. I also like seeing how there’s activity on the water, in the water, and above it. It was super fun to see the different types of water sports that share the water.
I think this is a top contender for the best ocean books for preschool.
The different chapters include:
-Oceans, Seas, and More! (this includes the ocean floor, warm waters, cold waters, etc.)
-A Day by the Ocean
-A Day at the Beach
-Ocean Vehicles (boats, submarines, etc.)
-Marine Aminals
This book also reminds mom of her childhood Encyclopedias. She says this ocean book for preschoolers feels like it has a STEM-centric approach, which means the book uses the STEM Standards of Practice. STEM stands for Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics.
I liked skipping around in this book. Mom and dad would tell me ocean facts for kids while reading this book.
I have many friends who love water activities and fish. I think this book will definitely make a splash!
