Here’s a please knock sign for kids with a free template that will help teach your kids about boundaries and afford them some level of control in setting boundaries. The idea is to empower a young child to learn and feel comfortable setting boundaries. We got the idea after reading the book, Let’s Talk About Body Boundaries, Consent & Respect, written by Jayneen Sanders and illustrated by Sarah Jennings. Here’s our full review.

This do not disturb sign is easy to make and super fun to color in and decorate. Adding construction paper or a heavier card stock to the back will help it keep its shape and last longer. Kids can choose their colors and decorate with embellishments; and of course, can practice offering and denying access to their room when one knocks on the door.

The best part of this DIY please knock sign craft? The template is free and it opens the door for a great conversation!
