Everyone is in the classroom practicing songs and making goodies for their trip to say thank you to community helpers. The Gingerbread Man has made a special gift too but when he goes to deliver it, slush and snow get in the way. In The Gingerbread Man Loose at Christmas, author Laura Murray and illustrator, Mike Lowery, create a fun, holiday, adventure on a cookie that could.

I really like the rhyme in this book: “I’ll search on my own, as fast as I can! I’ll dash through this snow. I’m the Gingerbread Man!”

And I really like that the Gingerbread Man will not give up. The whole book I’m rooting for him. It’s a real page turner. The way the book is arranged, like panels similar to what you might see in a comic book, really keep your eyes moving from one box to the next.

Mom loves that the class was hand-making gifts for the community. She liked the kindness, good humor, and the recurring refrain. We were both impressed with the Gingerbread Man’s perseverance and cheery attitude. And, of course, we looooved the poster that came with the book!

If you liked when the Gingerbread Man was loose in the school and on the fire truck, you’re going to love him on the loose at Christmas!
